A coffee stop sits inside the nursery, under the same roof as the plants. A coffee at a wooden table under the hanging baskets, then a walk down the green path.
Balcony, office, backyard or new home. Garden design, installation, maintenance and irrigation, the work Landscape Art started with in 2001.
Landscaping
Garden design and installation, hard and soft. A whole area rebuilt from scratch with bulldozers, or working with what you have. Designs drawn by hand and by computer.
Garden maintenance
Hedge cutting, seasonal changes, mowing, flower beds. Weekly, monthly, seasonally or once off. No job too small.
Irrigation
Manual or automated, high or low pressure, or an armful of hoses and connectors. Designed to your garden, your budget and your water. Every part in stock instore.

Where this came from
Their own identity first: the logo PNG from their server, the 5 colours measured from their CSS and their logo pixels, Playfair Display and Montserrat as their site sets them, 130 of their own photographs, and their own words. Then 4 references, 1 steal each, never more than 2 decisions from the same source.
apple.com / airpods-proScrub pacing. 1 eyebrow, 1 headline, 1 line per chapter, and the copy lands on the emptier half of the frame.
petershamnurseries.comHow a visit is sold. The address under the heads, 1 solid button per screen, the nursery and the coffee stop as equals.
aesop.comBand discipline. Heads at 1 weight, body at 1 size, 1 button per band, 80px or more of air.
linear.appToken precision. 3 type sizes per view, a numbered index for the chapters, a measured number beside every token.
What makes it none of them: the page opens on 1 of their own benches filling with their own ranges, on a white ground, in their own typeface, and the only ask on every band is come in.
Rhythm
Film first, then bands. 1 band, 1 idea, 1 dominant element, 1 action. Scroll is the only clock. Below the film nothing moves on its own.
film (6 chapters, scrubbed by scroll) → welcome → what's inside → coffee → the story → garden services → visit → footer

Primary is a forest fill with white text at 9.67:1. Ghost is a hairline in the current text colour. Text links carry a 2px lime rule, the 1 place lime sits near type, and the type above it is forest.
5 colours, all theirs, and nothing else: the film fades to the white ground over its last 8%, so no seam colour is needed. Lime is the accent: the chapter progress bar, the loader bar, 1 text-link rule. At most 2 lime elements on any screen, and lime never carries text on white. Every ratio is measured with WCAG relative luminance.

The rules
✕ Never
Set lime as text on white, or fill a card or a band with it.
✓ Instead
Lime is a 2px rule or a progress bar, twice a screen at most. Forest carries the buttons.
✕ Never
Let anything below the film animate on its own.
✓ Instead
Scroll is the only clock. Bands rise once on arrival, then rest.
✕ Never
Redraw, recolour or crop the logo, or set it on lime.
✓ Instead
Their PNG, as served. Inverted to white only while it sits over the film, then back to black on white.
The go-live switch
A pitch and a working website at the same time. 1 attribute decides which you see.
<html data-pitch="1"> shows the dock and the System, Graphics and Copy tabs. Go-live is 2 edits: remove data-pitch, and remove the noindex meta tag in the head. The handoff build also deletes the 3 hidden tabs and the old-copy strings, so the served page is only the website.
Built First
The site was built before it was sold, so what you see is what goes live. R7,500 to go live, R3,750 to start and R3,750 on the day it goes live. Then R950 a month: hosting, changes when stock or hours change, and a monthly check that every link, number and photo still works.
Domain stays yours. Hosting account in your name. The film, the photos and the words are yours from day 1.

The art direction
Every visual that ships on the website is on this page, with its file and its role. The 6 film frames are generated. Every other photograph is theirs, from their own 2021 shoot. No stock anywhere.
The cast: 6 frames, 1 bench
The film is 1 nursery bench seen from directly above, filling with plants in the order of their ranges. 6 keyframes, each generated with the previous one as its reference and seeded with their own photographs of the hall, their green benches and their hero shot, so the bench, the mesh, the turf and the light are inherited, never re-invented. The first frame is 1 echeveria. The last frame is their homepage photograph, alive. It is a generated film of their shop, not a photograph of it.

Construction rules
1 bench, 1 spot
The camera is locked directly overhead and never moves. Every keyframe is an edit of the same still, so every join shares the same geometry.
1 light
Soft, even, shadowless top light, the way the hall's translucent roof actually lights it. No sun patch to flip, no second source to invent.
The hands
Green gardening gloves, never a face. They enter from a frame edge, set plants down, and leave within 2 to 3 seconds.
No text in footage
No labels, tags, signs or logos are rendered in the film. All type is live HTML over it.
The logo
Theirs, as served from landscapeart.co.za: Landscape-Art-Logo@300x.png, 7,639 by 2,876 pixels, transparent. Never redrawn, never recoloured. Over the film it is inverted to white. On white it is itself. The favicon is their own mark.
Their photographs on the site
19 of their 130 own photographs, all from the June 2021 shoot on their server. Resized, never cropped into something else, never retouched.

Motion
The film scrubs on a canvas at its native 24fps, every frame shipped. A lerped playhead (factor 0.14) settles the scrub. Below the film, sections rise once on arrival and then hold still. Everything respects prefers-reduced-motion. Phones see the same film letterboxed on forest green, never a second film.
The type set
Both faces are the ones their current site already loads. Both ship as self-hosted woff2 with the variable weight ranges declared.

The copy system
Where the words come from, what was cut, and every headline beside the line it replaces. The toggle at the bottom swaps the live website between them.
Where it comes from
25 pages of landscapeart.co.za, read on 20 August 2026, and their 124 Google reviews. The claims are theirs. Nothing is invented: no prices, because their site shows none, no testimonials, because their site carries none, no plant count except their own "well over a thousand".
kept verbatim: "Full of love, plants and coffee" · "A slice of nature thriving in the city" · "a home for all" · "Comfort comes with variety" · "something for Everyone and Every Style" · "Big, Bright, and Beautiful" · "Come & check out our plants" · "It takes all types to create a home. Welcome to ours." · "pop in" · "instore"
Signs of AI writing, and the cleanse

A coffee stop inside the nursery
Their tagline, their "Grab a coffee & browse our plants" band, their cafe photograph
1 · The shop is the offerThe 1 job is the visit. The address is on the first screen and in the closing band, and every button either opens directions or dials the shop.
2 · Their claim, their wordsThe tagline, the welcome line, the About story and the closing line are kept as they wrote them, shortened, never inflated.
3 · No WhatsApp until there is oneTheir site publishes no WhatsApp number. The rebuild uses the landline and email until Anne gives one. Nothing invented.
4 · 1 idea per bandWelcome, range, coffee, story, visit, services. Each gets a screen. Nothing shares.
5 · Fix the errors, keep the voiceThe current site ships "Parsely", "vison", a Mailchimp popup and a contact form behind a CAPTCHA. The rebuild keeps the warmth and drops the errors.
